Roughneck

Ocean Rig own and operate Leiv Eiriksson and Eirik Raude, two of the world's largest and most modern drilling rigs, built for ultra deepwater and extreme weather conditions. We have also taken delivery of four brand new 6th generation drillships all of which are operational. To continue with the growth of Ocean Rig, three further deepwater drillships have been ordered from Samsung Heavy Industries in Korea, these are expected in 2013. The company vision is to expand the operating base while maintaining a sole focus on ultra deepwater and harsh environment drilling, becoming the drilling contractor of choice for our customers, employees and shareholders in an incident free environment.

These positions would be on the Leiv Eiriksson which is currently located off the Falkland Islands and will be working in the Norwegian sector on a 2/4 rotation by the end of the year.

Roughneck:

The Roughneck will ideally have at least 6 months experience as Roughneck/Floorman, ideally on a floating drilling rig. 

 Responsibilities include:

•  Work as directed by the drill crew. Maintain working areas, tools, and safety equipment in a clean, tidy and orderly manner.

• Be safety conscious in all work and behaviours and use compulsory personal protective equipment relevant for the work situation.

• Report any safety hazard and near miss to an immediate superior.

• Participate in safety meetings and safety drills.

• Carry out duties according to the Emergency and Contingency Manual when needed.

• Be familiar with all relevant work- and safety procedures issued by Ocean Rig AS and by the Operator, and promote the implementation of same.

• Ensure that all orders and instructions received verbally or in writing are fully understood and adhered to. 

Required Experience:

The Roughneck will have prior offshore experience as Roughneck/Floorman, ideally on a Semi-Submersible or Drillship.

As a global organisation and to ensure a safe working environment, it is essential that all applicants have a strong level of English, both written and oral.

Required Qualifications and Certificates: 

• Valid health certificate by the relevant authority.

• Valid Offshore Survival course, OPITO or equivalent
