Japanese photo magazine founded by photo critic/photographer Hiroshige Shigemori and published by Tokyo College of Photography Press. Redactors were Shigemori and photographer Koshio Kuwahara.
The series sought to establish a new climate for Japanese criticism of photography and was an extensive survey into then contemporary late 1960s photography with focus on the media’s history, practice and development of new theory.
The Photo Review «No. 7 Summer 1974 Special Feature: Photo 1930s» is a special edition of the magazine and focus on 1930s photography and practitioners like Franz Roh. In addition it contain works by many at the time key individuals in Japanese photography. Photographer Kanendo Watanabe and his series «Streets Already Seen / The Mysterious House or Elvenon’s Madness» is given special feature. In addition works by Shoji Ueda to Masahisa Fukase may be found.
