Beskrivelse av varen
Ragnar Persson «Salassa Lola», kunst fanzine.
Ragnar Persson’s solo zines «Salassa Lola» and «Drawings» were self-published 2012 and issued in conjunction with his solo exhibition at gallery Krets, Malmö/Sweden.
«Salassa Lola is the name of a moth, which can be found in the eastern Himalayas and India. It is one of the world’s most rare moths and was once said to have healing effects. The legend also said that by consuming it, one could be transferred to another dimension, an alternative reality. The fascination for mystery, fables and hidden layers of reality is a central theme throughout Ragnar Persson’s practice. Salassa Lola presents a selection of drawings that revolves around the ambiguity in notions of good and evil, and the relationship between the wild and the domesticated.
The exhibition is also based on the concept of collecting and collections, with both encyclopedic and popular cultural references. Drawings on double sheets of paper fill the room and contain everything from heavy metal beasts, butterflies and ponies to ALF and Elvis Presley.
Ragnar Persson (b. 1980) graduated from Konstfack (University Collage of Art and Design) in 2007 and has since then been based in Stockholm. He has previously exhibited in Tokyo, Istanbul, New York, Berlin, London and Reykjavik. Most recently at Gallery Steinsland Berliner in Stockholm and Bomuldsfabriken Kunsthall in Norway. Salassa Lola is Persson’s second solo exhibition at Krets. In 2010 he also participated in our group exhibition KNOCK KNOCK at Needles & Pens in San Francisco».
