Bio, via Artsy;
Thomas Trum (Dutch, b. 1989) creates colorful minimalist artworks that express his fascination with unconventional applications of paint. His dizzying paintings, produced on canvas, paper, or walls, are rendered with nontraditional tools: a road-marking machine, a sponge attached to a drill, a felt tool measuring several feet long. The results are often large-scale, like his 50-foot-long work Two Orange Lines —shown at his 2018 solo show at Het Noordbrabants Museum in the Netherlands —or Kunsthal Light #23, his sloped, 65-foot-long mural installed in 2020 at Kunsthal Rotterdam. A graduate of the Design Academy Eindhoven. Born of laborious gestures and inventive techniques, his paintings are euphoric experiments in color, depth, and pattern.
