Environmental Engineer applied for the Technology Centre at Mongstad
Primary scope of responsibilities
Technology Centre Mongstad (TCM) is seeking an experienced Environmental Engineer to join our Technology (TEC) team. As an Environmental Engineer, you will be responsible for assessing, analysing, and mitigating the environmental impacts of our day-to-day operations, projects, and activities. You will work closely with across TCM internal teams, partners, and stakeholders to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and develop sustainable solutions for our operations. The ideal candidate should have a background in chemistry and excellent understanding of monitoring technologies. The following shows a list of main activities the Environmental Engineer will be responsible for,
• Follow up TCM’s obligations described in the emission permit and national regulatory framework.
• TCM’s contact point with the Environmental Regulators in Norway, and responsible for communicating planned activities and the risk associated with technology development.
• Conduct environmental impact assessments (EIAs) for projects, operations, and activities, and make recommendations for mitigation measures.
• Develop and implement environmental management plans (EMPs) to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and industry best practices.
• Provide technical support and guidance to internal teams on environmental issues, including waste management and pollution control.
• Monitor and report on environmental performance indicators, including emissions, waste generation, and energy consumption. Including regular follow-up of key plant gas analysers.
• Follow up on quality assurance processes and ensure compliance with relevant quality management standards.
• Conduct environmental audits and inspections to identify opportunities for improvement and ensure compliance with environmental standards.
• Participate in the development and implementation of sustainability initiatives and projects.
• Communicate with internal teams, partners, and stakeholders on environmental issues and initiatives.
Qualifications
· Master’s degree in environmental engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.
· Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and standards applicable in Norway, including those related to emissions, waste management, and pollution control.
· Experience in conducting environmental impact assessments, developing environmental management plans.
· Excellent understanding of monitoring technologies used in environmental management and quality assurance.
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
· Proficiency in Norwegian and English, both written and verbal.
· Experience in atmospheric chemistry and/or dispersion modelling.

TCM is located at Mongstad in Nordhordland, and the center is part of one of the most complex industrial facilities in Norway.
TCM promotes carbon capture as a tool for a cleaner and greener future by bridging technology developers, science and industrial application of CO2 capture technologies. Our main task is to test, verify and demonstrate different technologies related to cost-effective and full-scale industrial CO2 capture. We also offer consultancy services for carbon capture projects. The aim is to facilitate the spread of carbon capture technology in various branches and industries. In this way, TCM is an important part of Norway's contribution in the fight against climate change.
TCM participates in a broad international collaboration with relevant players on the development and commercialization of new technology, which is important for carbon capture and storage to have an effect against climate change.
