The Passion range represents all the technologies and know-how of YBA. The manufacturer had to offer separate preamp + power amplifier elements, in order to offer the ultimate listening experience to its happy owners. The PRE550A was developed for this purpose, paired with the Passion A650 stereo power block . It also incorporates a high quality converter in order to be able to listen to dematerialized music sources in the best conditions.

Aesthetically discreet but recognizable among a thousand, this preamplifier proudly sports two rotary potentiometers surrounding an OLED display. The box made of very thick aluminum with an irreproachable finish, sees its bottom lined with a thick aluminum plate, resting on three feet whose principle is to ensure a very particular connection with the support, in order to prevent any parasitic vibration from reaching the sensitive components. An aluminum remote control assists him.

On the connection side, the PRE550A sports a plethora of digital inputs on the rear panel, namely: USB A, USB B, AES/EBU, coaxial, BNC, optical + a coaxial digital output. On the analog side, there is a balanced stereo input on XLR, 2 asymmetrical stereo inputs on RCA, a balanced stereo output on XLR, 2 asymmetrical stereo outputs on RCA (enough to supply a power block , a subwoofer or amplified speakers) . To use these analogue line inputs without interference, a switch allows the digital section to be deactivated. Finally, YBA has not forgotten wireless connectivity with AirPlay support.

Inside, there is a topology typical of the creations of Yves-Bernard André with two double C transformers, 190 VA each, made up of multiple plates coated with insulating varnish, the whole being impregnated under vacuum. The advantages of this technique are the elimination of microphonic effects, the creation of a perfect and totally passive mains filter and reduced distortion. Both transformers are damped and have their own insulating base. It should be noted that these are exclusively assigned to the analog section since the digital section has its own toroidal transformer. Without going too far into the technical details, there are resistors and components stamped YBAand a number of optimizations such as insulating wood chips, etc. unique to YBA. The diagram is of course in double mono "Alpha" class (patented YBA operating mode, similar to class A, less high temperature and benefiting from an extremely low distortion rate).
