Seen by few visitors until recently, the Alchi monastic complex nestled in a beautiful valley in the Himalayas of Ladakh, has miraculously preserved Buddhist wall paintings of unparalleled splendor. Although less known than the famous murals of Ajanta or Dunhuang, the paintings of Alchi are no less exciting.
