Pioneer Hpm-70 legendary vintage HPM Series

Beautiful Pioneer HPM-70 monitors for sale, very rare in this condition. This is a smaller model of the legendary HPM-100.
The 70s are a bit smaller than them, the 100s had a 12-inch woofer and here we have a 10-inch woofer. The rest of the speakers are the same.
Responsible for the now iconic HPM series is Bart Locanthi, head of engineering at JBL and creator of the all-time bestseller L-100 Century, who joined Pioneer in 1975 and created the HPM series as direct competitors to JBL monitors. And they certainly did their job in gaining their market share and the rest is history.
The loudspeaker boxes have been renovated, the original black vinyl had a tendency to peel off over the years, so it was removed. The boxes were covered with natural Brazilian rosewood veneer, the veneer was covered with three layers of professional clear varnish. This gave them a unique look.
Technically, they are 100% original, all elements are fully functional and work perfectly. The sound is truly amazing for designs of that time. It is expressive, detailed and warm. The bass is fast, soft and can go low. And this is because of the design of the speaker itself. Even after so many years, the woofer suspension is very flexible and resilient. The loudspeaker dome itself is stiff and light, and its basket is made of thick cast aluminum. Mid-range and high-range speakers are made in the same way.
