Wood is experiencing a growth in its project portfolio, both within its Energy Security sector (oil and gas) and Energy Transition sector (hydrogen, ammonia) and therefore needs to strength its team within its Technical Safety and Environment discipline.
As a Technical Safety and Environment Engineer at Wood you will be responsible for a wide range of activities through all project phases, from concept selection to FEED and through to EPCI. You will be part of multi-discipline teams to deliver projects across all business streams, both on- and offshore and within Oil & Gas and “Green Industries".
We have both Senior and Junior roles available.
Responsibilies:
- Working in a multi-discipline engineering team, plan and execute discipline deliverables
- Coordinate and deliver Safety Analyses, Studies, and Risk Assessments (QRA, CFD, ALARP, Functional Safety, etc.) as input to design and to document compliance
- Collaborate with 3rd Parties and Global Wood Specialists to define and deliver specialist scope
- Plan, prepare and participate in multi-discipline reviews, including: HAZID, HAZOP, ENVID, etc.
- Prepare Safety Strategies, Philosophies, Specifications and Performance Standards
- Undertake technical safety design and prepare drawings within: - Active and Passive Fire Protection - F&G, ESD & ISC System Design - Safety Layout, ISD and Explosion Mitigation - Area Classification - Escape, evacuation, and rescue systems
- Develop and follow-up procurement packages
- Working environment planning, requirements, analyses, and package follow-up
- External Environment activities (inc. BAT, Waste Management, Environmental Budget and GHG Estimation)
As a senior discipline engineer you will, in addition, have the following responsibilities:
- Discipline lead in engineering studies and EPCI Projects
- Responsible for defining and planning discipline scope in projects and tenders
- Provide discipline competence to company/projects within your specialty fields
- Lead (facilitate) multi-discipline reviews (e.g. HAZID, ENVID, WE)
- Assist in the development of junior engineers and department improvement processes
As part of or onshore and green energy portfolio the following experiences are considered desirable, but not a requirement:
- Knowledge of laws, regulations, environmental permitting, and council planning processes (Kommune) for onshore industry
- Experience within safety related building regulations (byggeforskrift) and their application to green energy projects
- Experience in hydrogen, ammonia and ‘new fuels’ safety and implementation in projects
Qualifications:
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in relevant field
- Minimum of 2-5 years’ relevant experience for Junior position and 5-10 years for Senior position
- Experience in studies, engineering/design, and execution of Off- and Onshore industry projects
- Understanding of applicable Norwegian offshore/onshore* regulations and standards
- Proficient in Norwegian and English, orally and written.
- An advantage if you have worked with Equinor as a Client and have knowledge of their systems and installations
- Must be proactive, can work independently and take responsibility for their (and Wood’s) deliverables. Good communication and the ability to collaborate with others is essential
- Desirable (but not essential) if you have experience in using Pipenet™ software
* Not a requirement for experience and knowledge in both offshore and onshore but can be an advantage
