What we’re looking for
The Performance Analyst will play a key part in improving the energy efficiency of our vessels and fleet, contributing to our strategic sustainability targets and efforts to reduce emissions. This position ensures meeting the expectations of both internal and external stakeholders regarding vessel and fleet performance and emissions data and insights, as well as compliance with regulatory emission reporting requirements.
Join the Energy Efficiency & Performance team dedicated to enhancing energy efficiency through technical and operational improvements, including vessel performance monitoring, data analysis, reporting, and optimization. Your goal will be to optimize vessel condition and operation for better voyage and environmental performance, help reduce operational expenditures, and ensure accurate emission reporting.
You will use various data sources, such as noon reports and real-time high-frequency sensor data, to perform analysis and maintain up-to-date performance data on vessels and fleet. This involves monitoring speed and fuel consumption profiles, identification of performance trends and deviations, assessing the impact of maintenance events, and acting on improvement opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze daily fleet and vessel performance data, including KPIs.
- Provide performance data insights and report to Wallenius Wilhelmsen’s technical and operational teams as well as liaising with ship managers and vessels, maintaining regular feedback loops for continuous improvement.
- Identify trends and anomalies to support operational optimization, follow up on potential areas for improvement, and assist in resolving performance-related issues.
- Prepare emission-related data for external stakeholders including regulatory reporting compliance requirements.
- Oversee and ensure the accuracy and consistency of vessel fuel consumption and emission data reporting.
- Contribute to the consolidation and visualization of emission-related data, and assist in developing and maintaining analysis dashboards and tools to streamline data interpretation.
- Lead and participate in assigned activities and projects, ensuring completion within agreed timelines and budgets.
Qualifications
- At least three years of experience in a similar role, particularly involving performance monitoring and analysis tools.
- Vessel performance domain knowledge
- Proficiency in problem-solving, analytical thinking, and possessing a digital-first mindset to ensure improvement of processes using digital tools
- Experience with statistical analysis and getting insights from data, particularly with tools such as Power BI and SQL
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Curious, quick learner, and adaptable to new technologies and methods
- Fluent in written and spoken English
Nice to haves:
- Ideally possessing an M.Sc. in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Data Analytics, or a closely related field (B.Sc. and relevant experience can be sufficient)
- Experience with vessel performance monitoring tools
- Understanding of ship hydrodynamics, resistance, and propulsion, as well as marine engine systems
- Knowledge of machine learning and high-frequency data analytics
- Skills in modeling, simulation, and programming
