Bayer is looking for a Scientist Radiopharmaceuticals
Oncology is one of the strategic therapeutic areas for Bayer Pharma and radiopharmaceuticals are an important part of this strategy with several projects in phase I and preclinical pipeline. To support the growing pipeline and increased activities in the Targeted Radionuclide Therapy field, we are looking for an experienced Scientist to join our Radiopharmaceutical CMC & Technology team based in Oslo.
As Scientist mainly working with the Analytical Development & Quality Control team, you will be responsible for analytical development activities related to radionuclide sourcing and qualification, standardization and characterization work and establishment of methods both for imaging and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals. As a member of our team you will work closely with the Radiopharmaceutical Research team, with our CDMOs and internal partners to establish and transfer methods to our CDMOs to secure rapid and robust release methods allowing effective clinical supply to patients worldwide.
Major tasks and responsibilities
- Provide analytical support to our development projects including collaboration with and technology transfer to raw material suppliers and Contract Development Manufacturing Organizations (CDMOs) worldwide.
- Plan and execute studies and experiments supporting the development and validation of radiochemical analytical methods using nuclear techniques such as gamma spectroscopy, liquid scintillation counting, alpha spectroscopy or chromatography.
- Generate analytical data for regulatory dossiers and development documentation by characterization of raw materials and drug products and supporting process development studies in collaboration with our process development team.
- Take part in release and stability testing under GMP regulations.
- Accountable for qualification, control, calibration and maintenance of relevant GMP instruments.
- The development activities will involve working with radioactivity under a well established and controlled radiation safety system.
Qualifications and experience
- PhD or MSc in Radiochemistry, Radiopharmaceuticals, Nuclear Physics, Pharmacy or Chemistry.
- Professional experience (preferably minimum 3-5 years) in the radiopharmaceutical field with focus on analytical development, preferably experienced with techniques such as gamma spectroscopy, liquid scintillation counting, HPLC or alpha spectroscopy.
- Technical knowledge in nuclear physics, nuclear chemistry, isotope separation techniques, radioactive accuracy measurements.
- High motivation for practical analytical work in our laboratories together with a strong team of research and development scientists in multiple scientific disciplines supporting data driven decisions and outcomes.
- Good communication and collaboration skills are expected, and you have good experience in writing scientific reports and summaries for decision making and basis for regulatory submissions.
- Understanding of relevant regulations (FDA, EMEA) and GMP requirements in the field of radiopharmaceuticals and analytical development will be an advantage.
- Fluent in English and preferably skills in a Scandinavian language.
