Guide opportunities in Tromsø!
Norwegian Travel is one of the leading tourism companies in the country. As part of our ambition to set the standard for activity-based tourism in Norway, our daugther company, Destination Tromsø, is looking for guides for the upcoming winter season. We have several exciting positions available: Northern Lights guide, whale watching guide, and customer service at our sales point, Basecamp. The positions are seasonal and can be combined.
Tourism Employees
We are looking for multilingual guides who can take care of our guests in a safe and comfortable manner. As a guide, it is important that you are outgoing and sociable, and that you feel comfortable speaking in front of guests. You must have strong problem-solving abilities, be able to think quickly, adapt to situations, and resolve issues while maintaining guest satisfaction. You enjoy challenges, take initiative, and handle unexpected situations with a reassuring smile. It is also important that you collaborate well in teams and can step in where needed.
Excellent communication skills are essential to providing engaging tours, whether it's providing clear and concise explanations or captivating storytelling to our guests. In your role as a guide, you will have the opportunity to meet and work with people from all over the world. Many of our guests have dreamed for years of seeing the northern lights, whales, and the arctic nature, so your goal should be to provide them with a truly memorable and unique experience.
Work tasks and working hours will vary depending on the position, but we offer tours during the day and evening, weekdays and weekends.
Skills and requirements
- Guiding/customer service experience
- You should love the cold because temperatures can drop down to -30 C and we have to take care of our guests in all kinds of weather
- Good physical condition
- Language skills: English, any additional language skills are also highly welcome
- A good sense of humor to survive the long and dark polar night
- Photographer, especially night/northern light experience is highly appreciated
- Valid permission to work and live in Norway
- A laid-back and patient personality accompanied by a deep sense of responsibility
- You are flexible and can guide in our other activities if needed
- You love story telling and are good at creating a nice welcoming environment for our guests
