Principal Engineer – Electrical

The electrical department in Oslo is looking to strengthen the team with a new Principal Engineer. You will contribute to Aibel’s exciting journey in the ongoing energy transition. Our portfolio covers manned and unmanned operated Oil and Gas topsides, High Voltage substations (HVAC or HVDC), Electrification projects and hydrogen facilities.
About the position
Aibel's Electrical Engineers design and specify electrical systems solutions and strategies for projects in concept, study, and detail phases. You will also have the opportunity to take on the role of Discipline Lead in projects while holding this position. As a Discipline Lead in Aibel, you will providing technical leadership and guidance to a team of engineers within the discipline, ensuring that the design and engineering work meet project requirements and industry standards.
Responsibilities and tasks include
- Lead the electrical systems design for Study, FEED or EPC projects
- System lead, Discipline lead or Team lead for electrical in projects
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and project requirements
- Define, specify and design high and low voltage electrical systems and packages
- Develop and assist in design of electrical philosophies, strategies, topologies, single line diagrams, load list, system description, PMS/PDCS systems and electrical system solutions
- Perform and follow up electrical system calculations, analyses and assessments
- Participate and arrange meetings, workshops, and reviews for electrical discipline
- Participate and contribute to digitalization processes to help secure improvements in working methods
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- Minimum 10 years' experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on HVDC systems
- Minimum 8 years’ experience from Electrical lead role - and system design activities
- Proven track record in conceptual and detailed engineering for large-scale projects
- Experience within electrical system design and electrical distribution design at LV and HV distribution levels
- Experience and deep knowledge of electrical design according to relevant standards such as NORSOK, ATEX, PTIL, ISO, DNVGL and IEC
