Albert dives a little deeper into the era's funk spirit on The Compleat Albert Collins - his third LP – but still deals a heavy hand of his stock blues grooves. At times the only distinction the music has is Collins’ piercing geetar licks. Well, that and his fearless ripping on popular melodies; begging for multiple cease and desists. As if to intentionally compound the vulnerability of the album, Collins plays to his weakness by taking to the mic far too generously.

The cover art is compelling but it’s without the company of the primal rhythms his early singles had in spades.
