We are looking for Technical Expert
Wärtsilä is a world leader in marine technology and leading the industry's transformation towards a decarbonised and sustainable future. With the world’s widest portfolio and service network, we – Wärtsilians - deliver efficient, safe and sustainable integrated products and solutions to enhance the business of our customers. The opportunities presented through digitalisation and new technologies are offering a new era of shipping. Did you know that shipping is the world’s most efficient mode of transportation and that approximately 80% of world trade is carried by sea?
We want to change the course towards an interconnected and cleaner maritime future and are constantly on the lookout for future-oriented talent to join our team and to work towards enabling sustainable societies through innovation in technology and services - together. Are you ready to jump onboard?
Technical Services is a globally recognized technical knowledge function within the Services Business of Wärtsilä, supporting internal and external stakeholders during the life cycle of products and solutions.
The Technical Expert, part of Exhaust Treatment (ET), gives technical support to internal and external customers. Due to this, this role is closely cooperating with other departments within Exhaust Treatment such as Engineering, Project Execution, Warranty, and Life Cycle Services. Technical Experts participate in product improvement cases and development projects, field follow-up, and technical investigations in the field.
We are now looking for a Technical Expert to enhance our capacity to perform life cycle support tasks for our Wärtsilä exhaust treatment portfolio. We offer you interesting tasks in a multicultural environment where you will gain deep knowledge of the ET product family.
The location of the position is in Moss, Norway and you will be reporting to the Manager for Technical Services.
As a Technical Expert ET, your main responsibilities are:
- To solve technical issues related to ET products and components
- To support the Wärtsilä product improvement process by performing Root Cause Analysis and field validations of new technical improvements
- Providing technical content as well as coordinating technical bulletin creation within own responsibility area
- Participate in the introduction (field validation, pilot installation commissioning etc.) of new products in the field
- Provide technical support for Wärtsilä's purchase organization in their contacts with suppliers
- Provide assistance regarding part obsolescence.
- Providing technical training for internal and external customers.
To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:
- As an ideal candidate, you have practical experience and/or a higher degree (e.g. Bachelor or Master) in Process-, Automation-, Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent field.
- Previous experience in maritime (Ship/FPSO), Oil & Gas, process industry engineering and/or water cleaning process systems is an advantage.
- We expect you to be willing to learn and adapt to new technologies and have a proactive and self-motivating way of thinking. As an individual, you are eager, curious and driven as a natural "drive" to solve issues is required to succeed in this role.
- As the Technical Service team is multinational, our official working language is English, thus you should be comfortable using English. Willingness to travel, i.e. installation and follow-up of equipment for field testing or on-site troubleshooting (estimated 20-80 days per year).
Why you and us?
We at Wärtsilä believe in empowerment, ownership and taking responsibility of our work. We support each other’s growth and co-creation is the true basis of our innovation. We have courage to see opportunities and take initiative.
We are authentic and honest, and we strongly believe in that by being your own true self you can accomplish so much more. We don’t always get it right the first time, and if mistakes are made, we make sure to learn and grow from them. We want everyone to voice their opinions freely. That is why we have built an environment that empowers you and everyone around you, and where you can feel safe and cared for. Are you eager to be part of this ambition?
We have an amazing team and we are excited about our work and the impact it has on building sustainable societies. We are looking to find a colleague with this shared passion for smart technologies and a sustainable future.
