Drive Performance: Head Retail Buying at VOICE
Background for Recruitment
Since its establishment in 1988, VOICE has built a strong foundation with an integrated value chain that includes the development, production, and distribution of our brands. Our retail concepts have historically driven this development, with in-house brands now making up approximately 90% of our revenue.
Seeing significant potential for further growth and profitability, we have restructured our organization by separating Retail and Brands into two business areas. This strategic move aims to build industry-leading capabilities and leverage synergies between the areas. VOICE aims for substantial growth within its retail operations in Norway, through our own brands. At the same time, VOICE aims to create profitable growth for its own brands through selective distribution in external channels in Norway, but especially through the distribution and sale of its own brands internationally via selective distribution.
To support this strategic development, we are recruiting for three key positions: Head of Design & Product Development, Head of Retail Buying, and Head of Sourcing. These roles will be crucial in integrating functions across the value chain and ensuring our strategic goals are achieved through effective collaboration, data-driven decision-making, and continuous improvement.
About the position
As Head of Retail Buying, you will develop and implement the overarching buying strategy for VOICE Retail, ensuring that we maximize sales and profitability through strategic assortment, planning, pricing, and category management.
This position secures the optimization of assortments, pricing strategies, and the NOOS program with the aim to improve product performance, increase sales, and enhance margins. You will work closely with the three directors of the retail concepts MATCH, VIC, and Boys of Europe, as well as the category and buying leaders within each concept, the Head of Design & Product Development, and the Head of Sourcing to streamline lead times, processes, and timelines associated with retail buying.
Your responsibilities include challenging and improving our existing buying model, e.g. express collections, and the existing buying structure. You will also guide and support the buying strategies for the online stores, develop forecasts on order volume and strategic pricing, and optimize category and assortment plans to ensure commercial success across all retail concepts.
Additionally, you will establish common methods for analysis and best practices across the buying teams, fostering knowledge sharing and competency development. You will play a key role in implementing VOICE's sustainability strategy and supporting the retail concepts' strategic sustainability plans. Further, you will oversee the development of buying tools and other system supports, e.g. analysis tools and planograms.
The position reports to Director of Retail and the workplace will be at our headquarters at Sagene in Oslo.
We are looking for candidates who have:
- Higher education, but extensive and relevant experience can compensate for formal education.
- At least 5 years of experience in a similar role within buying/category management.
- Experience in retail, knowledge of/experience in the textile industry is a plus.
