Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will be the automation SW developer for ABB’s new subsea power system. Making sure we reuse as much as possible from existing subsea power automation system, in close collaboration with relevant SW teams in ABB. Going forward you’ll be instrumental in exploring and applying new technologies within the digital and AI domain
The work model for the role is mainly in office combined with home office and some travelling.
This role is contributing to the Energy Industries success in Northern Europe and Norway particularly. Main stakeholders are Local Division in Norway, Northern Europe region and global Energy Industries.
You will be mainly accountable for:
- Develop new software and adapt our current subsea automation system to ABB’s new sub-sea power system.
- Software development and connectivity/interfaces to other subsystems.
- Requirements handling.
- Debugging, testing and regression testing.
- Setting up and maintaining automated test systems.
- Software modeling and documenting of software and system design.

Qualifications for the role
- Development of software in different coding environments: Matlab Simulink, PLC programming (preferably ABB Control Builder or CodeSys) interfacing application specific FPGA images and fieldbus protocols (ModbusTCP, CANopen etc.).
- Subsea Control/ Automation.
- Electrical Protection (IED, IEC61850).
- Preferably ABB AC 800PEC controller.
- Experience with integration of software with FPGA, sensors, actuators, and handling of PCBs and other hardware.
- Communication experience with Industrial Ethernet and Cyber Security.
- Ownership and commitment in all of your tasks.
- Ability to understand customer needs.
- Preferably Norwegian with excellent communication skills and proficiency in written and verbal English.
- Proactivity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills will complete your profile.
