About the department
NORCE Energy is a department in the Energy and Technology division at NORCE Norwegian Research Centre AS and conducts interdisciplinary research within various aspects of energy. The department has close to 100 scientific employees, organized into six groups, and has offices in Bergen, Stavanger, Kristiansand and Oslo. In addition to research activities with focus on value creation for the petroleum industry and geological carbon utilization and storage (CCUS), the department is active and expanding within renewable energy sources, energy systems and systems integration, energy efficiency improvement and energy storage. The ambition is to further strengthen and increase this latter research portfolio during the coming years.
About the position
Due to new research projects and a growing assignment volume, we hereby announce a fulltime permanent position as senior researcher / chief scientist linked to the research theme Energy Systems and Energy Systems Integration. The research group has a significant project portfolio related to energy systems in terms of energy and cost efficiency, sector and renewable integration and the utilization of local energy resources. The projects are of international character (to a large extend EU-funded), but also local or national and address both technical and operational challenges ranging from basic to applied research and demonstration projects.
The position will be linked to ongoing and newly started projects where modeling and simulation, system analysis and evaluation of measurement data are central working methods. But it also requires the development of new project proposals and consortia on local, national and international level. Furthermore, most projects are of interdisciplinary character, cooperating with other departments inside or outside of NORCE such as social, environmental and climate sciences. We are looking for both senior candidates with experience from the industry, the institute sector or academia as well as graduated candidates with some project experience as well as strong and relevant academic background.
The location of work for the position will be NORCE Stavanger, Norway.
Work tasks
Main work tasks for the position include active initiation of project development, implementation, management and execution of research projects as well as close follow-up of potential project partners from research and industries. The representation of NORCE in national and international organizations like EERA can be an additional area of networking activity. We are looking for proactive and cooperative candidates with good teamworking skills that also enjoy working interdisciplinary and independently.
Qualifications, personal qualities and skills
Professional qualifications:
- Master degree/PhD in energy systems, mechanical or process engineering, physics, mathematics, or measurement technology
- Relevant industry experience is preferred
- Competence in energy and energy systems, physics, and mathematics will be emphasized
- Track record and experience in scientific publications and technical reports
- Good analytical skills
