This painting is inspired by the beautiful song “Forest Floor” by Ocie Elliott.

The lyrics focus around the idea of escaping from the modern world and returning to nature. The repetition of the phrase "Let me down easy baby, lay me down on the forest floor" throughout the song creates a sense of comfort and familiarity, as if the forest floor is a place of solace and tranquillity. The description of the river and sun creates a vivid image of a beautiful and peaceful natural setting.

By building up many layers of texture and colour, using brushes and palette knives, the artist creates a rich surface and vibrant relationships between random shapes and deliberate markings in her work. She also uses watercolour and oil pastels to heighten the impressions and create depth and movement in her paintings. The drips in the work illustrate the endless cycle of growth and decay in organic structures, which again is a reflection of life itself.
