Senior Scientist, biotechnology

PCI Biotech is expanding its team and seeks a Senior Scientist.

The Senior Scientist position is a new role within PCI Biotech with an expected high impact, driving the daily research operations. Supporting the management team in the interception between research and business development to develop and achieve the scientific strategy will be an essential responsibility. This new role requires deep insight into biomedical sciences, preferably combined with experience in manufacturing biological drugs and a good business understanding of advanced therapies. As this is a new position, there will be an opportunity to impact and form the Senior Scientist role.

Main responsibilities

·       Work closely with the scientific team to develop and implement the operational research strategy

·       Management of and scientific guidance to an experienced lab team

·       Act as an interphase between R&D and business development

·       Identify, investigate and present potential value-generating development paths, projects and collaborators for expansion of the photochemical technology platform

·       Responsible for execution of patent strategy

·       Oversight of public funding opportunities and heading potential applications

·       Proactively taking initiatives and contributing to all relevant areas for a small biotech environment

Essential requirements

·       PhD degree within molecular biology, cell biology, pharmaceutical sciences, or similar

·       Master degree acceptable, if compensated with relevant experience

·       1-3 years relevant lab experience, preferably within bioprocessing (viral vector production)

·       2-5 years of biotech/pharma industry experience, preferably within bioprocessing (viral vector production)

Skills

·       Excellent communication skills, curious, open minded, great ability to listen and support co-workers

·       Excellent interpersonal skills while being autonomous, responsive, involved, organised and rigorous, sense of reporting

·       Experience of working in an interdisciplinary project team

·       Good understanding of the challenges of the pharmaceutical field coupled with business acumen

·       We are above all looking for an agile person capable of working in a small team

Location and reporting line

·       The position is up to full-time and ideally based at PCI Biotech’s office in Oslo, alternatively home-based with an agreed travel frequency to Oslo for the right candidate

·       Flexibility with regard to working hours and travel is required

·       The position is reporting to the Business Development Manager
