NOV is one of the world's largest suppliers of products and solutions to the oil and gas industry. M/D Totco’s Downhole Broadband Solutions (DBS) is a business group focused on drilling automation & optimization by use of downhole data. Our department concentrates primarily on deployment of wired drill pipe (WDP) and tools in drilling operations. The system allows transmission of real-time, high-density, low-latency data from downhole tools. 

We are looking for a Systems Engineer to join our small team that works to meet our customers’ expectations. This person’s responsibility includes the development & delivery of new projects and support of existing systems in the field. These systems are used for aggregating, archiving, and exchanging data between multiple customers and stakeholders on both physical locations and cloud environments. The foundation of this role includes NOVs new Max platform and industry protocols (like WITSML and OPC-UA), networking (VLANs, firewalls) and container technology (like dockers and virtual machines).

 DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Engineer, setup, configure, test, and deploy the solutions for DBS projects. Including drawings, documentation, configurations, etc.
• Provide on-site and remote support to troubleshoot and diagnose DBS drilling systems and tools.
• Communicate with other groups, customers, and 3rd parties to define project requirements, then manage the tasks to ensure they are met in the defined timeline.
• Development, test, and de-bug of system configuration and interfaces prior to project or product release.
• Some domestic and international travel should be expected, both office and on-site (offshore and onshore). 

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

• Bachelor or Master's degree in Computer Science, Automation, Cybernetics or similar field.
• Students finishing their degree are encouraged to apply.
• Candidates with experience and knowledge in these areas:
• Applicants who like to work in a collaborative environment and are eager to learn about a wide range of subject from drilling to networking.
• Good communication skills both formal and informal
• Structured and self-driven, but also able to work in a collaborative environment
• Good written and verbal skills in English is a requirement. Verbal Norwegian is preferable.
• Experience can compensate for formal education.
• Virtualization technology (e.g. VMWare ESXi, Proxmox, etc.)
• Networking (firewalls, subnets, VLANs, routing, etc.)
• Industry protocols (OPC-UA, WITSML, Modbus)
• SQL 
• Container Technology (e.g. Docker and/or Kubernetes)
• Programming or Scripting
