The Offshore part of the business operates three large fishing- and production vessels producing krill meal in the Antarctic, and one large service vessel taking care of crew changes, product logistics, spares, provisions and fueling of the fishing vessels.
We are currently recruiting for a HSE Manager who will play a crucial part in developing and drive the Offshore fleet’s HSE program. The role is operational and gives the right person a chance to work with a broad range of HSE tasks.

What you will do
The position is responsible for supporting the SVP Offshore in daily operations, keeping contact with key personnel onboard, driving results and positive ship-shore communication, and always maintaining high safety standards and professional operations.
Other responsibilities will be:
- Holds the role as DPA (Designated Person Ashore).
- Maintain, operate, and develop the HSE management system, define best practice tools and concepts, and ensure procedures and programs are implemented on all vessels.
- Ensure Management System and, together with Captains, vessel compliance with all HSE related laws and regulations.
- Arrange regular safety exercises and drills.
- Responsible for ISM certification and Document of Compliance (DOC), support function for ISO certification.
- Responsible for all internal and external vessel audits (ISM, Class, Authorities, ISO etc.).
- Provide and present Key HSE Statistics, including Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Analyze trends and performance to identify and act upon the right priorities.
- Handling insurance claims related to personnel in cooperation with Crewing and be primary contact for risk insurance and certificates of insurance.
- Ensure all crew are educated in the HSE standards of their facility and job function.
- Regular risk assessment in all parts of Offshore with the objective of reducing risk and non-compliance.
Your profile
Are you the HSE Manager we’re looking for?
The right candidate has operational HSE experience from, preferably, other shipping or fishing companies. You are structured and systematic yet flexible and responsive. You have a positive, can-do attitude and manage to roll up your sleeves with the motivation to respond in a 24/7/365 operation.
We think you have:
- Higher education within the field and/or relevant experience from a shipping company, fishing company, and/or as crew
- Experience from work with vessel audits and Health & safety management systems
- Great communication skills in English and good cross-cultural understanding
- Experience with maritime Systems and software
Location
We recognize that people have different needs, and trusts employees to deliver results when given flexibility both in terms of working hours and location. However, the HSE & Operations Manager will work primarily from our office in Ålesund, Norway.
Travel
There will be travel to Montevideo and/or shipyard stay 1-2 times per year, and occasionally to our main office at Fornebu.
