VP Global Tax to Wallenius Wilhelmsen

Are you a strong tax professional with interest in shipping? Then you could be the next VP Global Tax in Wallenius Wilhelmsen, as our current head of tax will retire next year! In this role, you will be responsible for driving the Group’s tax planning strategies, ensuring compliance across multiple jurisdictions and for optimizing an efficient tax structure in the Group. Position: VP Global Tax

Location: HQ at Lysaker

Reporting to: CFO

Main responsibilities and tasks:

• Overall responsible for tax and VAT planning in the Group.
• Ensuring an optimal tax structure in the Group by:

Utilization of Double tax Treaties

Develop and implement an efficient withholding tax structure

Optimize cash up-streaming

• Provide strategic tax risk and insights to the Board of Directors and top management.
• Proactively seek and identify initiatives to simplify the Group structure
• Manage tax compliance under tonnage tax regulations (Norway, Malta, Sweden, and other jurisdictions), including board representation in ship-owning entities.
• Overall responsible for tax and VAT compliance in Norway.
• Being a valuable business partner in the structuring of transactions (mergers, acquisitions and divestments) and other changes in the organization with tax implications.
• Overall responsible for Group Transfer Pricing Policy and documentation in collaboration with team.
• Establish a control structure, policies & guidelines that are effective and efficient, balancing tax efficiency with compliance and reputation risks.
• Oversee and ensure an efficient handling of tax and VAT audits/disputes with local tax authorities globally.  
• Build and maintain a strong network of global tax advisors.
• Ensure an efficient exchange of information between Global Tax Department and local and regional management by arranging regular meetings.
• Direct personnel management responsibility for department employees.

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Accounting, Law, Finance or similar.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience from tax or audit consultancy firm, multi-national companies, tax administration or similar.
• Strong knowledge of Norwegian / international tax and VAT laws and regulations, tax treaty agreements and EU/OECD tax regulations and guidelines.
• Good business understanding with a Group perspective.
• Experience from shipping and tonnage tax is an advantage.
• Strong communication skills in Norwegian and English, both written and oral.
