RARE first generationTakahashi FSQ-106 refractor

This is your chance to own a true classic: a first generation Takahashi FSQ-106 Fluorite refractor. Serial number: 99012 which means it was the 12th scope built in 1999. OTA is in good condition with some minor paint chips that have been touched up. The glass is clean, free of mold but has collected some dust over the years which has no effect whatsoever during visual use. The focuser has a 10:1 fine reduction on one side and a focus motor from Astroasis with built-in clutch on the other side that allows to either drive it electronically or manually.

106 mm objective and 530 mm focal length (f/5). Petzval design and flat field. It is classified as an "astrograph" but it is also a pleasure to use visually and provides superb wide-field views of deep sky objects with a low power eyepiece. Add the optional available 1.6x Extender-Q and you have a super 4-inch f/8 apochromatic refractor that gives you stunning views of the moon and objects of the solar system. Note that I have only used the scope visually and cannot provide any astrophotos but there are plenty of examples available on the internet.

The telescope weighs 7.6 kg with rings and Losmandy dovetail installed and is about 66 cm long (focuser racked in).
