Ceravolo HD216 Maksutov Newtonian teleskop

Offering an ultra-rare Maksutov-Newtonian telescope from Master optician Peter Ceravolo (Ontario,Canada). Only about 20 were built and 13 still exist today.

This one is #003 and was built in 1993. The primary mirror was recoated by Orion Optics UK in 2023 and a new secondary mirror (Antares, lambda/20) was added at that time as well.

The telescope provides exceptional views of deep-sky objects with the right widefield eyepieces (e.g. Televue 31 mm Nagler or 35mm Panoptic) and superb views of the moon and the planets at high magnifications. It routinely outperforms 7-inch apochromatic refractors in this respect.

I bought this telescope in 2022 from APM Telecopes in Germany for €5.500 (72.000 NOK after import).

I am downsizing my telescope collection and like to offer this scope to someone with a permanent setup (observatory). You will not drive around with this telescope and risk damaging it.

It weighs in at about 20 kg and is about 134 cm long (172 cm with dew shield). This translates into a hefty moment arm and requires a stable mount and tripod/pier. You will need a Losmandy G11 or Astrophysics AP900 class mount. An EQ6-class mount is NOT enough!
