Jefferson Wells is looking for a Senior Software Engineer in Automation to join our client's team in Oslo, where you'll be part of an interdisciplinary project team. This role is ideal for an engineer with at least 5 years of automation experience, particularly in engineering. If you have solid expertise in PLC and HMI programming, strong collaboration skills, and are open to occasional travel, we encourage you to apply.
Tasks and Responsibilities
As a Senior Software Engineer, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Designing, developing, and implementing software for automation systems in the power and offshore sectors, including control and safety systems and HMI solutions.
- System and network configuration, ensuring technical reliability and efficiency.
- Preparing documentation, conducting internal tests, and executing Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT).
- Engaging with interdisciplinary teams and clients to deliver projects that meet industry standards.
- Overseeing both large-scale installations and smaller upgrades in Norway and internationally. On-site commissioning is a regular part of our project scope, so flexibility for travel is preferred.
- Contributing to the ongoing development and improvement of our solutions, tools, and processes to meet future demands.
Background and Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate who has:
- A bachelor's or master's degree in automation, cybernetics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in automation engineering.
- Strong proficiency in PLC and HMI programming, preferably with Siemens systems.
- Extensive technical knowledge and the ability to work independently on complex, multidisciplinary projects (EPC/EAD).
- Networking experience, as network setup is a crucial aspect of our project delivery.
- Knowledge of the oil and gas industry and experience across different project phases is advantageous.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills in English. Proficiency in Norwegian is preferred but not a requirement.
