Shape the Future of Maritime Sustainability
What we’re looking for
At Wallenius Wilhelmsen, we are navigating a fast-changing regulatory landscape, especially around decarbonization and environmental standards. To meet our leadership goals, we need someone who can help us stay ahead of these changes while actively shaping the future of maritime regulations.
As Senior Manager for Maritime Environmental Regulations, you’ll oversee our climate and environmental regulatory activities, working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders. You’ll also help us navigate complex regulations, manage risks, and seize new opportunities in the journey toward a greener maritime industry. In other words, you will be the go-to person for anything related to the evolving regulatory arena.
We’re looking for someone who thrives in a multicultural environment and is passionate about making a difference in the maritime industry. If you’re self-motivated, curious, and enjoy finding practical solutions to complex issues, we’d love to hear from you.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a comprehensive overview of maritime environmental regulations and keep stakeholders informed about consequences and progress.
- Build internal and external networks to identify regulatory developments and develop tactics to mitigate risks or seize opportunities.
- Lead collaborative processes to define Wallenius Wilhelmsen’s positions on maritime environmental policies, aiming to influence political and regulatory bodies.
- Prepare whitepapers, position papers, and presentations on maritime regulations.
- Keep the organization updated on maritime environmental regulations and developments.
- Leverage internal and external expertise to represent the company in environmental public affairs, including at EU, IMO, Flag State levels, and trade associations.
- Lead advocacy efforts on public policy or private initiatives by utilizing relationships with representative groups and other carriers.
Qualifications
- At least 10 years of relevant industry experience, with extensive knowledge of political decision-making in environmental regulatory affairs at both international and regional levels.
- Established network within relevant regulatory arenas.
- Technical maritime understanding, allowing effective engagement with maritime engineers.
- Proven experience in project and stakeholder management, along with strong analytical and communication skills.
- Strong ability to translate and condense complicated information and present key findings to internal stakeholders.
- Strategic acumen, combined with a passion and vision for sustainability in shipping.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
At Wallenius Wilhelmsen, we're not just looking for a perfect requirement match - we're searching for passionate individuals with unique perspectives. Research shows that women and members of minority groups are less likely to apply if they feel like they don't match every requirement - give us the opportunity to decide if that's the case! Your experience and enthusiasm matter more than checking every box, and we'd love to have you on board!
