Job Summary:
The Accounting Associate will manage accounting for the Norwegian entities, including two Norwegian Registered Foreign Companies and one regulated entity, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance. This role involves handling regulatory reporting to Finanstilsynet and requires strong accounting knowledge, proficiency in accounting software and Excel, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with overseas colleagues. The ideal candidate will excel in attention to detail and organizational skills, adapting to the needs of a dynamic, international team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process invoices, payments, and receipts; manage accounts payable and receivable to ensure timely and accurate transaction processing.
- Bank Reconciliation: Conduct regular bank reconciliations to verify the accuracy and completeness of financial records.
- Intercompany Reconciliation: Perform intercompany (ecosystem) balance reviews and reconciliations.
- Data Entry: Accurately enter financial data into accounting systems and maintain updated records.
- General Ledger Maintenance: Assist with general ledger management, including journal entries and month-end close processes. Ensure that monthly summaries for the financial statements (FS) are delivered to management on schedule.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and deliver financial reports such as balance sheets and income statements and handle regulatory reporting to The Financial Supervisory Authority of Norway (Finanstilsynet), including Large Exposure and Capital Adequacy reports.
- Payroll Processing: Manage monthly salary payments, ensuring accuracy and timeliness, and collect and verify payroll information from relevant departments.
- Expense Reports: Review and process employee expense reports in line with company policies.
- Compliance & Standards: Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and accounting standards.
- Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and information.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to facilitate smooth financial operations and gather information for regulatory reports.
- Additional Tasks: Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of Accounting or Chief Financial Officer.
Qualifications:
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- Minimum 3-5 years accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices. Experience with hedge funds and a background from a regulated entity is preferred but not required.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and SharePoint, are highly beneficial. While experience with Visma BNXT (accounting software) and Cantor (reporting software) is a plus, it is not required. An interest in improving and automating accounting processes, along with an openness to adopting and driving change in accounting systems, is highly valued.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English and Norwegian. Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively within an international team.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse, international team.
