Are you ready to join us at Norwegian Hull Club for an exciting international marine insurance career?
Claims handling, contingency handling or project management experience? You could join us at Norwegian Hull Club for an exciting international marine insurance career as a Claims Handler.
At Norwegian Hull Club, we differentiate ourselves in a competitive market by our dedication to extraordinary levels of service, while understanding the need to stay curious. By asking 'Is there a better way?' we stay ahead in terms of products, solutions, technology and - ultimately - client satisfaction.
Now, we have an exciting opportunity for a Claims Handler in our Bergen office who understands the importance of such service-mindedness and the benefits curiosity can bring.
The successful applicant will contribute to Norwegian Hull Club’s ‘Expect more’ approach – striving to exceed our clients’ expectations at all times.
Although marine insurance experience is highly desirable for this position, we would also like to hear from people from outside the industry with a professional project management background.
What you’ll be doing
As a Claims Handler, you will be part of a team of specialists working within the global maritime industry. Your main responsibility will be the management of marine casualties, from the immediate contingency phase until the unit in question is back in operation.
A Claims Handler is also involved in market activities towards new and existing clients, together with colleagues in our Technical and Underwriting departments, among others. These include loss prevention activities and emergency response exercises, as well as experience-transfer workshops on a wide range of marine insurance-related topics. By sharing experience and insights from actual incidents, The Club aims to help improve industry best practices and reduce risk.
Among the numerous international clients and stakeholders that the Claims team works closely with is Norwegian Hull Club’s own network of surveyors.
The Claims department is built upon individuals with a wide range of experience and interests. The Club encourages people to bring their own individual skills and experience to the table, resulting in a dynamic working environment with highly rewarding collaboration opportunities.
Qualifications and preferred qualities
Our ideal candidate is a self-driven, service-minded individual with practical experience from marine insurance and/or maritime industry/ navy. They will also be educated to at least Bachelor level within the nautical, technical, legal or similar fields of study. That said, relevant experience will be taken into account.
As mentioned, we are also interested in receiving applications from outside the global marine insurance industry from individuals with a proven track record in project management - particularly from those industries mentioned above - or from segments such as Oil and Gas. Contingency handling know-how is also highly relevant for this role and, of course, required training will be provided for those candidates with such professional backgrounds.
You should also possess an analytic mind, capable of working independently in a structured manner. Our preferred candidate will also be a positive-minded team player, even when working to multiple deadlines or in high-pressure situations.
Additionally, the successful applicant must have solid information technology capabilities, being familiar with the professional use of MS Office products and the like while also being willing to learn new systems.
A good command of English (oral and written) is needed for this position, while Norwegian or another Scandinavian language will be seen as an advantage.
