Telenor is now seeking a Director Technology Strategy Execution, responsible for setting and executing on strategic directions and high-level architecture principles.

As our new Director Technology Strategy Execution, your purpose is to translate strategy and high-level architecture into business-led execution that enables business growth as well as scale benefits. Participation in execution of the strategy, through selected project activities is part of the role. This requires collaboration with different Telenor Business Areas as well as partners and industry arenas.

The role is part of the Telenor Group Technology unit and reports to SVP Technology Strategy and Partnership Ecosystem.

“The Technology Strategy and Partnership Ecosystem team is responsible for setting directions we see as key for Telenor to capture growth. There are technology shifts we fully have to manage that will allow us to differentiate ourselves in the different markets. In addition to these key business tasks, it is also motivating to work with many colleagues from Telenor and other companies as a basis to translate trends into business opportunities. When working closely across Telenor we also see the concrete business outcomes of what we are doing.”

Some of your main responsibilities:

• Define strategic directions, participate in creating architecture principles and engage in detailing execution plans applicable for Telenor Business Areas.
• Develop strategy, architecture documents and execution plans including anchoring, approval, communication, etc.
• Coordinate across Business Areas, align network strategy and architecture status and plans with relevant stakeholders and functional teams within Telenor.
• Participate in selected strategy execution projects across Telenor.
• Define the cloud and AI elements relevant for Telenor Network Strategy and elaborate ways to execute it in practice.
• Engage in cross-unit work with Business Areas, collaboration with partners and relevant industry arenas on technology focus areas.
• Communicate and represent Telenor views in various external arenas, partners, etc.

Preferred experience and qualifications:

We seek a telecom strategy professional with excellent analytical and communication skills. You translate technology and business trends into strategic directions, architecture guidelines and execution plans that are clear and actionable. Furthermore, you act as a trusted advisor on executive stakeholders and have extensive collaboration skills. Solid insights into key network domains spanning radio, transport, fixed and core are key.

We believe experience from a complex organisation, in combination with a technology expertise, is key to succeed in this role. You have a business and outcome mindset founded on strong understanding of current and future telecom networks. You have higher education, preferably with a master’s degree.

As a strategy professional we expect excellent presentation and communication skills, with strong ability to collaborate and interact effectively across organisational and cultural boundaries, internal and external, locally and globally.
