Sensor Fusion Developer
Nortek Group
- Frist 08.12.2024
- Ansettelsesform Fast
We are looking for a dedicated and proactive Development engineer (Sensor Fusion)
What will your role and tasks be with us?
You will play an important role in advancing Nortek’s underwater navigation technology by developing and refining navigation algorithms and our sensor fusion implementations. As part of our team, you will be responsible for creating robust solutions that integrate data from a variety of sensors to provide precise navigation in challenging underwater environments. Working closely with our skilled development and engineering team, you will design, implement, and optimize algorithms that enhance the performance of our instruments and help position Nortek in the market of subsea navigation.
You will be part of a dynamic and multidisciplinary environment, collaborating with colleagues to deliver great solutions to our customers. Amongst other, you will work with:
- Development and implementation of navigation algorithms
- Signal processing and navigation systems
- A variety of sensors
- Real-time systems
- Embedded software
- Simulation and data-analysis
- Testing of sensors and systems
What qualifications are we looking for?
To succeed in the position, it is important to have a deep and thorough understanding of estimation methods and techniques, and how that applies to subsea navigation. We are looking for somebody with:
- A master’s degree or higher in relevant field, like cybernetics, robotics, mathematics or similar
- Experience with development of algorithms for navigation, control, or autonomous systems
- Good overview and understanding of estimation methods and techniques
- Analytical problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to deliver high quality
Lack of experience can be compensated by a strong theoretical background and an equally strong motivation to apply your theoretical expertise to real-world applications.
You should also have knowledge and experience within some of these areas:
- Signal processing
- System integration
- Sensor technologies
- Artificial intelligence
- Embedded programming
What do we do?
At Nortek, we develop and manufacture world-leading instruments that collect information about the processes taking place in our oceans. We need to understand more about the role of the oceans in areas such as climate, food production, health, business activities and energy production. Our technology is used, among other things, for studies of coral reefs, navigation of underwater vehicles, measurement of currents and quality assurance of fish farming. The interest in the ocean is increasing, and our company is growing. With us, you will contribute to a product that can benefit millions of people.
What can we offer?
We are committed to your success with us and ensure that you receive good onboarding from the start. In addition to a digital introductory program, you will be enrolled in the Nortek Academy - an in-person introductory program that provides insights about all of the teams and processes happening at Nortek. It is also a great opportunity to meet other new employees from Norway and our 8 global subsidiaries in person.
At Nortek, you will be involved in many exciting tasks! You will experience great personal and professional development opportunities and gain valuable insights into our business.
Although we are established in many countries, as a Norwegian-owned company we have managed to maintain an informal tone and short decision-making paths. As an employee with us, it will give you great opportunities to influence our future and you will hopefully see the result of what you are working on relatively quickly. With us, you will feel that your contribution makes a big difference.
Our culture, employee well-being and a good working environment are important to us. We have a good diversity of nationalities, ages and professional backgrounds and have several social activities that are driven forward by our own employees and our social committee. In 2024, we have hosted social events like a ski tour and a rafting trip in Sjoa. Our employees have access to rent our company cabins – one in Norefjell and one in Southern France. We generally have low turnover and high job satisfaction.
This job role is based in Trondheim. If you have any questions, please contact recruiting manager Eskild Westby, mobile phone +47 95773905.
Application deadline 08.12.2024.
Om arbeidsgiveren
Nortek designs, develops and produces scientific instruments that apply the Doppler principle to underwater acoustics in order to measure water in motion, such as currents and waves.
We provide truly innovative, robust, and accurate instruments, backed up by advanced software and comprehensive support to ensure customers maximize value from their measurements.
Our solutions make a big difference.
These instruments are used by scientists, researchers and engineers at renowned institutions and government agencies worldwide. They are employed in demanding environments that require state-of-the-art instrumentation that is reliable and easy to use.
Our exploratory devices help cast light on the workings of the world’s oceans, which occupy vast swathes of the planet, but are still little understood.
Most of Nortek’s technology is based on a scientific physical principle called the Doppler effect. This relates to the change in frequency (or pitch) when a sound source moves with respect to an observer.
By measuring these changes in frequency/phase, our instruments accurately measure profiles of speed and direction of complex water motion.
Nortek’s product portfolio ranges from wave measurement systems to single-point turbulence sensors and oceanic current profilers. Our product range covers four themes: ocean waves, ocean currents, turbulent flow and subsea navigation.
Our objective is to excite users with useful, innovative technology underpinned by oceanographic science and research. We work systematically with quality and are certified by leading quality assurance organizations.
