Job Purpose
To support the CFO ; a commercial role with a focus on high-quality reporting and especially on adding value to the business and impacting results.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing financial support and monthly reports to Functional Heads
- Controlling project accounting across a wide range of implementation projects, on a ‘Percentage of Complete’ basis using source data from timesheet processing
- Responsible to act as ‘critical friend’ to Project teams to ensure that revenues recognised in the financial statements are materially accurate and that Project Managers understand their numbers
- Preparation of monthly management accounts, P&L, Management reports, KPIs and variance analysis
- Proactive partner to project teams to guide their focus onto key performance issues and help them measure their impact and improvement.
- Produce and present critical financial information to the board
- Assist/lead quarterly budget meetings
- Produce quarterly analytics to parent company
- Calculate and process inter co Royalties
- Produce a Weekly cashflow statements
- Reconcile sales & balance sheet accounts
- Prepare, post and reconcile prepayments and accruals
- Raising sales invoices
- Responsible for Inter co invoices
- Responsible for Intercompany reconciliation
- Process and review Opex
- Maintain fixed asset register
- Compile and submit VAT
- Uploading monthly reconciliations
- Timesheet processing and reports
- Ensure sales invoices for project milestones are accurate, meet the customers’ requirements and are raised on time
- Responsible to lead a team approach to Credit control and for providing meaningful reporting on debtor status and risk
- Prepare and review financial models and proposals on an ad hoc basis to support the decision making process across a range of commercial issues
- Develop and improve finance and project systems.
Additional Activities (shared with other members of finance team):
- Supplier authentication and set-up
- Take on company-wide finance tasks as allocated from time to time
- Support financial team providing day-to-day assistance as required
- Assist in monthly and year end management/financial accounts and audit
- Ad hoc financial analysis in support of the preparation of management accounts
Knowledge and Skills required:
The ideal candidate will be / have:
- Professionally qualified (ACA, ACCA, ACMA) with at least 2 years post qualification experience.
- Strong organisational abilities, experience of working to tight deadlines and a hands on approach to finance.
- Advanced Excel including Pivot tables, Look-up functions and similar is essential for all analysis and reporting duties
- Deep knowledge of accounting principles, good understanding of financial/management information systems. Technically competent with finance and accounting knowledge and skills.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to adapt to and implement change.
- High level of numeracy (Accounting/Maths/Statistics) and the ability to interpret management information
- High computer literacy, with particular reference to accounting and management software and their application in a software / project environment.
