North Development Program 2025 - Engineer - Drilling and Well Operations

What does the job involve?

Responsible for drilling engineering related to all drilling activities across the Equinor organisation. This includes making of drilling programs according to applicable work processes (WP), work requirements (WR) and technical requirements (TR). This also include all support and expert functions related to drilling engineering.

You are utilizing your knowledge in a specific area to carry out tasks that have a short-term operational impact/risk. You independently complete assigned work, either with limited guidance or by following well-defined guidelines and procedures, in order to achieve targets set by others that have an impact on your immediate team as well as other work areas. You effectively communicate facts, practices, and policies to individuals within your immediate team as well as external parties, with others support. You may navigate potentially conflicting agendas. You adhere to established procedures and tackle occasionally complex challenges by identifying and resolving them. You proactively seek continuous improvement and embrace change and ambiguity. You demonstrate flexibility to adopt new activities and ways of working while also taking ownership of your work. You follow and comply with safety, ethics, and compliance requirements and align with leadership expectations and company values.

This position is part of the North Development program. You will receive a development and learning opportunity and be given stretch tasks and responsibility at an early stage. Your first three years in this role may see you on an exchange between our northern Norway locations.

What will my tasks be?

Within this position, your key tasks will be to:

• Play an important part in planning drilling and completion operations, well interventions and subsea activities.  
• Contribute to shape the future of drilling and well industry. 
• Work in teams with other disciplines, perform method selection, risk assessment, evaluate and recommend required equipment. 
• Develop and improve our new ways of working. 
• Analyze data and ensure safe and efficient operations.

Equinor’s drilling & well (D&W) network consists of 1,200+ dedicated professionals worldwide and takes on a global role in managing D&W operations. Our teams oversee around 40 daily operations carried out from our platforms, rigs and vessels. Our work plays a significant role across all areas of our strategy, from enabling safer and more efficient production to reducing the CO2 emissions from our oil and gas outputs and delivering wells for our carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects.

• A bachelor's or master's degree in petroleum technology, Subsea Technology, Marine and Offshore Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Cybernetics, Data Science, Industrial Economics, or other relevant engineering degrees. Completed degree by August 2025. 
• No more than 3 years full time relevant work experience.  
• Formal experience is not a requirement, however extracurricular activities and/or voluntary work is an advantage. 
• Working proficiency in English language written and spoken is essential. Good Norwegian skills is an advantage, and you must have a willingness to learn Norwegian. 
• Eager team player with the ability to work and deliver results in a global and diverse environment. 
• Positive attitude to take on new challenges and adapt to dynamic environments. 
• Willingness to live in Harstad.
