North Development Program 2025 – Engineer Production and Reservoir Technology – Subsurface

What does the job involve?

We are searching for a Production Engineer and a Reservoir Engineer.

As a Production Engineer you will be responsible for analysing and optimizing production and wells in all subsurface value chains. Responsible for ensuring integration of relevant subsurface and topside data with the aim of optimizing production and well completion solutions, identify and mature well interventions on a full project life-cycle perspective.

As a Reservoir Engineer you will be responsible for applying analytical and reservoir modelling techniques within subsurface evaluations across all subsurface value chains. Responsible for ensuring integration of relevant subsurface data to model the dynamic reservoir behaviour, with the aim of optimising reservoir drainage and well planning on a full project life-cycle perspective.

Applicable to both roles - You are utilizing your knowledge in a specific area to carry out tasks that have both short-term and long-term operational impact. You independently complete assigned work, either with limited guidance or by following well-defined guidelines and procedures, in order to achieve targets set by others that have an impact on your immediate team as well as other work areas. You effectively communicate facts, practices, and policies to individuals within your immediate team as well as external parties, with others support. You may navigate potentially conflicting agendas. You adhere to established procedures and tackle occasionally complex challenges by identifying and resolving them. You proactively seek continuous improvement and embrace change and ambiguity. You demonstrate flexibility to adopt new activities and ways of working while also taking ownership of your work. This position is part of the North Development program. You will receive a development and learning opportunity and be given stretch tasks and responsibility at an early stage. Your first three years in this role may see you on an exchange between our northern Norway locations.

What will my tasks be?

Within this position, your key tasks will be to:

As a Production Engineer work with: 

• Daily production and energy optimization, well monitoring and performance. 
• Operational planning and follow up in a multidisciplinary team. 
• Well maturation and interventions. 
• Production technical input to field development projects. 
• Energy efficient production optimization and emission predictions. 
• Carbon capture and storage projects. 
• Contribution to digitalization and improvement initiatives. 

As a Reservoir Engineer work with: 

• Maturation of field development projects. 
• Reservoir modelling and energy efficient reservoir management. 
• Well target identification, well planning and optimal well placement. 
• Production forecasting and emission predictions. 
• Optimization and data driven production predictions.  
• Carbon capture and storage projects.  
• Contribute to digitalization and improvement initiatives. 

Tasks may vary depending on your background, interests, and other factors.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in relevant Technical Discipline.  
• Education within reservoir or production technology and related disciplines such as; drilling & well, flow assurance, process technology, mathematics, physics, chemistry/chemical engineering, data science or cybernetics.  
• Relevant software competence, and the ability to learn new tools. 
• Programming (Python, JavaScript) capabilities are an advantage. 
• Completed degree by August 2025. 
• A maximum of three years of relevant full-time work experience. 
• Operational experience and experience from field development projects will be of advantage. 
• Innovative and digital mindset, and an eagerness to learn and develop. 
• Fluency in Norwegian language (both written and spoken) and good communication skills in English. 
• Willingness to live in Harstad.
