BW Offshore is looking for an experienced Principal Engineer Process to join our Concept Development team in Oslo.

The Concept Development team is established to perform the initial technical design for new FPSO prospects with focus on cost efficient, functional and safe design solutions. The successful candidate will report to Senior Manager Concept Development and play a defining role in BW Offshores ambition for growth and winning new projects.

The existing Concept Development team and Technical Authorities within the technical function consist of highly qualified engineers for all relevant disciplines. Concept Development also works closely with BW Offshore Projects department, including the topside, hull & marine engineering departments in Singapore and the turret mooring system department in Arendal, Norway.

The Concept Development team is also sitting together with the New Ventures & Technology department in our Oslo office. The New Ventures & Technology Department develops standalone and FPSO integrated GHG reduction solutions, including but not limited to CCS and floating wind / wind to platform solutions.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

• Take part in initial technical screening efforts for new prospects.
• Take on process lead position for initial FPSO pre-FEED / technical framing studies, including but not limited to:
• Basis of Design interpretation and alignment with Client
• Topside process technology selection
• GHG reduction technology selection
• Process optimizations
• Process simulations and utility calculations
• Process and Utility Flow Diagrams
• Initial sizing / supplier interaction for key packages
• Align driver selection, equipment type, sparing, layout, etc. with relevant disciplines
• Value opportunities identification
• Integral part of collaborative team to conclude overall FPSO design. The Concept Development department is accountable to define initial topsides concept, hull selection and turret mooring concept.
• Assurance and value opportunity studies for subsequent phases of the projects.
• Collaboration across functions is a key to future success, with opportunities also for involvement with New Ventures, Projects and support to operating FPSOs.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in chemical/process engineering or similar. Alternatively bachelor’s degree compensated by relevant experience.
• Preferably 15+ years of relevant experience with process engineering, including experience from concept phases / front end engineering design.
• Additional experience in project execution and asset operations is expected.

Skills

• In-depth knowledge of offshore / FPSO topside process and utility system design
• Good overview of available technologies for offshore process plant design
• Good knowledge of process engineering software applications including HYSYS
• Wholistic and structured approach to conclude overall optimum design concept
• Team player
• Fluent in English (oral and written)
