So – what are your skills?
Duties and responsibilities
The Systems & Methods department is responsible for the continuous improvement and coordination of many of the companies technical methodologies, systems, standards, procedures and processes. We are working widely in the organization to align all entities from the sales team to our production units around a common set of standards and ways of working. In this position, you will contribute to:
- Continuously develop the company's standard library of piping components and armatures in cooperation with relevant internal VARD entities and external suppliers
- Collaborate with our machinery and HVAC technical departments on the development of best practices and guidelines for pipe routing
- Ensure that our piping standards are in accordance with relevant quality standards, certificates, and rules and requirements
- Evaluate suppliers and potential new products from a technical, quality and economical point of view
- Define applicability of piping standards in new projects with respect to vessel specifications, Class rules, type approval certificates and yard production capabilities
- Coordinate with our engineering, procurement, supply chain and production entities on the alignment of standards, frame agreements, and supply chain and production methodologies
- Support our yards' production entities with the collection and development of necessary procedures for pipe manufacturing, testing, flushing, etc.
- Collect and coordinate synergies during engineering, production and warranty, and coordinate necessary quality assurance measuresthroughout the company's entities.
Qualifications
- BSc/MSc or technical college in piping-relevant discipline, or relevant experience
- Experience from piping manufacturing and installation, experience from shipyard operations is beneficial
- Experience with design and quality assurance of maritime piping systems is beneficial
- Competencies within material technology and corrosion prevention
- Competencies within flow engineering and thermodynamic analysis
- Knowledge of different production methodologies
- Good knowledge of Class Societies' rules and other relevant international rules and requirements in shipbuilding (DNV, IMO, SOLAS, etc.)
- Knowledge in use of AutoCAD
- Good knowledge of English language, both oral and written
