FPSO Concept Study Manager –Concept Development

BW Offshore is looking for an experienced FPSO Concept Study Manager to join our Concept Development team in Skøyen, Oslo.
The Concept Development team is established to perform the initial technical design for new FPSO prospects with focus on cost efficient, functional and safe design solutions. The successful candidate will report to Senior Manager Concept Development and play a defining role in BW Offshores ambition
for growth and winning new projects.

In addition to initial screening efforts, the Concept Development team will perform pre-FEED technical framing engineering for all new prospects, including but not limited to:

• Topside system design and technology selection
• Driver selection studies and GHG reduction evaluations
• Equipment type and sparing selection to conclude topside Master Equipment List
• Conceptual structural design solutions
• Weight estimate
• Hull and turret/mooring concept selection
• Overall FPSO general arrangement including topside plot plans
• ALARP/BAT assessment
• Value opportunities identification
• Initial CAPEX estimate

Concept Development will also contribute to subsequent stages of the project through value opportunity studies and assurance activities. The existing Concept Development team and Technical Authorities within the technical function consist of highly qualified engineers for all relevant disciplines. Concept Development also works closely with BW Offshore Projects department, including the topside, hull & marine engineering departments in Singapore and the Turret Mooring System department in Arendal, Norway.

The Concept Development team is also sitting together with the New Ventures & Technology department in our Oslo office. The New Ventures & Technology Department develops standalone and FPSO integrated GHG reduction solutions, including but not limited to CCS and floating wind / wind to platform solutions. Close cooperation and sharing of resources between functions is key to develop future solutions.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Provide in-depth understanding of system and area design and be hands on for all parts of the technical definition.
• Perform screening efforts and be technical focal point in early Client discussions for new FPSO prospects, in close cooperation with BW Offshore Business Development team
• Define, lead and be overall responsible for the quality, timing and final deliverables for pre-FEED technical framing studies.
• Perform value opportunity studies and assurance for subsequent phases of the project.
• Contribute to development of work processes and tools for the Concept Development team to perform concept definitions efficiently, consistently, and with high quality.

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Engineering (Bachelor’s degree and / or long relevant experience may replace formal education)
• Experience from Concept Development / Front End Engineering Design (FEED) for FPSOs
• Experience as Engineering Manager or similar role
• Ideally 10+ years of relevant experience within the offshore / FPSO industry

Skills:

• In-depth technical knowledge of FPSOs overall design, including but not limited to topside system/area design.
• Thorough and systematic, able to set correct priorities in the early concept phase to meet deadlines with high quality definition of the overall concept
• Team player with ability to lead
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary / multinational environment
• Fluent in English (oral and written)
