Focusrite OctoPre MkII er en 8-kanals mikrofonforsterker med innebygget 24 bit/96 kHz AD-konvertering til ADAT. Preampen har kompressor på alle kanaler som er basert på Focusrites legendariske RED3 kompressor.

Inngangene for kanal 1 og 2 er praktisk plassert på fremsiden av preampen, mens de andre er plasser bak. Alle innganger er kombinerte jack/xlr kontakter. Fantommating er gruppert på kanal 1-4 og 5-8. Pad (-10 dB) finnes på alle kanaler.

Preampene i OctoPre MkII Dynamic er de samme som sitter i den prisbelønte Saffire-serien. Karakteren er transparent, med høy båndbredde og mye headroom. Kompressoren har et VCA-design basert på Focusrites legendariske RED3 kompressor, og består av kun én pot. Jo mer du skrur med klokka, desto lavere threshold og mer makeup gain. Attack og release er satt til henholdsvis 1,2 og 28 ms og ratio er 2:1. Ved å trykke på "more"-knappen, økes ratio til 4:1 samtidig som threshold-pot´en vil konsentrere seg over et mindre dynamikkområde.

OctoPre MkII har både analoge og digitale utganger (adat). De digitale utgangene er ideelle for å ekspandere antall innganger på eksisterende lydkort med adat inn.

Preampen har en "real world" dynamic range på hele 110 dB og hver kanal har 5 LEDs nivåmetere. ADAT kan SMUX'es (8 kanaler @ 96 kHz), og de analoge og digitaler utgangene kan selvsagt brukes i parallell. Jitter PLL eliminering sørger for superstabil klokke, men OctoPre MkII kan også synkroniseres eksternt via word clock in på BNC.
