Mechanical Engineer – 6-Month Assignment with Potential for Extension and Permanent Employment
Jefferson Wells is looking for a Mechanical Engineer on behalf of our customer. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with extensive experience in mechanical and piping disciplines to contribute to cutting-edge hydrogen development projects. The assignment is for six months with the possibility of extension. For the right candidate, a permanent position at Jefferson Wells will be considered.
Tasks and Responsibilities
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and integrity of mechanical and piping systems for innovative hydrogen projects. Your responsibilities will include:
- Acting as a technical authority within mechanical and piping for hydrogen and derivative projects.
- Taking ownership of equipment packages in hydrogen projects.
- Supporting the development of specifications and templates for mechanical equipment, devices, and systems.
- Verifying and reviewing project documentation, including datasheets, layouts, materials selection, piping routes, and stress analysis.
- Ensuring design compliance with relevant standards, codes, and regulations.
- Participating in assessments such as ALARP/HAZID/HAZOP, audits, and reviews.
- Contributing to and verifying RAM analyses for the asset.
- Following up on contractors during installation, mechanical completion, and commissioning.
- Collaborating with process, technical safety, electrical, and automation disciplines.
- Supporting the development of HSE, O&M, and execution strategies.
Background and Qualifications
- A university degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
- 10+ years of experience in the oil & gas or chemical industries.
- Extensive knowledge of international standards and codes.
- Experience with hydrogen plants, e-fuel plants, or ammonia plants is an advantage.
- Familiarity with hydrogen compression and process piping is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of hydrogen electrolysis OEM systems is a plus.
- Proficiency in English, both written and oral.
