About the position
A Research position in Machine Learning for Healthcare is available at the Faculty of Computer Sciences, Engineering and Economics at Østfold University College (ØUC).
The Research position is associated with the project “KONTIKI AI-Based Decision Support for Healthcare" funded by Interreg.
The KONTIKI project aims to develop decision support systems based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) for healthcare to help healthcare workers make the best possible decisions. The goal of the project is to make healthcare services more effective, and to make the treatment of each patient better.
The project is focused in particular on Deep Venous Thrombosis (DVT) and trauma. The work will primarily consist of an exploration of state-of-the-art Machine Learning (ML) algorithms and methods to optimize ML models for these two areas.
The position is a full time (100%) fixed term position for 1 year and funded by Interreg (50%) and Østfold University College (50%).
Starting date: As soon as possible.
Work tasks
The candidate will be a part of a research team, including scientists from computational and healthcare sciences, working on the development of ML solutions for decision support for healthcare. The candidate is expected to design, develop, implement and optimize ML pipelines for decision support in healthcare. We are looking for a highly motivated experienced researcher with a PhD (or equivalent) in computer science or similar.
Qualification requirements
Essential Criteria:
- a degree equivalent to a Norwegian doctoral degree or masters degree in Computer Science or relevant fields
- documented knowledge in machine learning and deep learning methods, tools, and platforms
- solid programming skills
- fluent oral and written communication skills in English
Emphasis will be placed on the following:
- prior academic output (papers in journals/conferences and citations)
- relevant work experience
- relevant background in machine learning and deep learning
Personal characteristics:
- good communication and collaboration skills
- good ability to join interdisciplinary academic communities
- good ability to work purposefully and focused with research and publishing

We offer
- the position is remunerated as 1109 researcher between NOK 650 000 - 900 000 or 1108 researcher between NOK 575 000 - 750 000. The salary scale will depend on qualifications, experience and a market assessment.
