Job Description:
- The Logistics Manager/Coordinator will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient execution of a large construction project involving multiple main contractors.
- This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing logistics processes to optimize resource utilization, minimize disruptions, and ensure seamless collaboration among all stakeholders.
- Centralized Logistics Oversight: Assume full responsibility for managing all logistics activities across the project lifecycle.
- Align logistics processes with the overall project plan to ensure consistency and efficiency.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all logistics-related matters, ensuring smooth communication between contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders.
- Logistics Planning & Coordination: Develop a comprehensive logistics plan detailing resource allocation, material flow, and project timelines.
- Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and suppliers to ensure timely delivery and proper sequencing of materials and equipment.
- Mitigate potential delays by proactively addressing logistics challenges and conflicts.
- Control Mechanisms & Monitoring: Implement systems to monitor and evaluate logistics activities, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines.
- Conduct regular reviews and updates to the logistics plan based on project progress and changes.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure logistics efficiency and effectiveness.
- On-Site Logistics Team Leadership: Form and manage a dedicated on-site logistics team led by a central logistics operator. Oversee the daily operations of the logistics team, ensuring effective coordination of resources. Provide guidance and support to the logistics team, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment.
- Resource Allocation & Conflict Management: Centrally manage shared resources such as cranes, storage areas, and equipment to prevent scheduling conflicts and optimize usage. Coordinate with contractors to ensure equitable and efficient distribution of resources. Identify and resolve conflicts or bottlenecks that may arise during construction activities.
- Daily Coordination & Communication: Organize and lead daily logistics coordination meetings to review schedules, address issues, and adjust plans as needed. Ensure clear and consistent communication among all stakeholders to maintain alignment and prevent misunderstandings.
- Proven experience in logistics management, preferably in large-scale construction projects.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate collaboration among diverse teams.
- Proficiency in logistics planning software and tools.
- Solid understanding of construction processes, resource allocation, and scheduling. Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to changing project needs. Relevant qualifications in logistics, supply chain management, construction management, or a related field.
- Key Competencies: Strategic Planning: Ability to develop and implement effective logistics strategies aligned with project goals.
- Work Environment: This role requires a combination of on-site presence and coordination with off-site stakeholders. The Logistics Manager/Coordinator must be prepared to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with frequent interactions across various teams and disciplines.
