The R&D team consists of a diverse group of personalities with many different strengths. An R&D Engineer in our team is involved in a combination of theoretical and practical work across various disciplines and with a great potential to learn. The R&D team manage internal R&D projects and R&D projects with external partners and/or research institutes. The R&D department is located in Oslo and Halden. You will be reporting to the R&D manager for G&T.

GETTING A FLYING START
In the R&D department, we work to find solutions to technical challenges and develop existing technology beyond current limitations. Our technologies connect islands to mainland, transfer energy between nations, and bring green energy from offshore renewables to the grid. As part of this team you will be involved in developing, designing, manufacturing and testing these technologies.

HOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACT

You starting point when you join will be the HVDC extruded team where you will work as a cable engineer. You will work in close cooperation with our technical experts within HVDC extruded design and learn how to design, manufacture and test our HV cable systems. Together with the technical team you will be responsible for driving the development of our extruded cable systems.

Typical tasks:

• Participate in development and qualification projects for future HV cable systems
• Design of cable and components
• Procurement when required
• Prepare for and follow up production and testing of cables and components
• Produce required documentation in accordance to relevant standards and requirements

• PhD. in Electrical Engineering.

• You have effective communication and presentation skills.
• You have a flexible team player mindset; as teamwork and project execution are vital in our work at Nexans.
• Proficiency in English, both spoken and written; Norwegian language skills are an advantage.
