Risk and Ownership – Sustainability Team
Our Sustainability Team is a group of 6 people, with expertise in various specialized aspects of ESG, that works closely together while strategically integrated with other parts of the organization. The team is dedicated to integrating environmental, social and governance (ESG) risks into Storebrand's analysis of companies and management of investment portfolios.
Our work includes engagement with investee companies; active monitoring and evaluation of companies in relation to exclusion of companies that may be in breach of Storebrand’s exclusion policy; and exercising our voting rights. The team is also central in establishing frameworks for implementing and integrating regulatory requirements, not least with respect to the EUs framework for Sustainable Investment and developing Storebrand’s policies with a broad range of issues, such as climate, biodiversity, human rights, conflict areas, and deforestation. The team has members located in Oslo and Stockholm. Strong preference for this position is in Oslo.
What you'll be doing
Your responsibilities and tasks may vary depending on your experience and qualifications. What's certain is that you will be a central player in the Sustainability Team in analyzing and managing ESG data from external information providers and internal sources, collaborating with investment operations departments, as well as cooperating with portfolio managers to integrate ESG data into investment decision-making. You will contribute to portfolio risk assessments of topics such as climate, nature and human rights, leveraging existing in-house data or identifying new data sources. You will be involved in the screening of companies for exclusion, supporting engaging with companies on sustainability issues, and collaborating with other investors and stakeholders. Analysis of controversies and sustainability risks related to investee companies in Storebrand’s investment universe, as well as carrying out and contributing with expertise to sustainability standard setting will also be part of your role.
We expect you to also contribute to reporting and communicating on the team's sustainability work to various stakeholders (including internal stakeholders, external clients, potential clients, certification bodies, governmental organizations and non-governmental organizations) and to developing and updating internal sustainable investment guidelines and routines.
Who you are
You have robust experience working with SQL and preferably experience with snowflake.
You have a solid understanding of the ESG data landscape and the different providers that occupy it. You are comfortable programming in Python and have experience managing and analyzing large datasets and databases. Experience working with DBT, Simcorp Dimension and/or Bloomberg is highly beneficial.
You are a high achiever: skilled and accomplished, yet forward-looking and eager to break new ground.
If you are self-driven, solutions-oriented, and analytical, with insight into sustainability topics, and have a hunger to continually further advance your expertise in sustainability, then this could be a position for you to thrive in.
You have the ability to work in a high pace environment both independently and within a team and a curious mindset with eagerness to learn. You have a minimum of 3-5 years relevant experience working in data management, preferably with ESG data and in the private or financial sector; and have a relevant academic background, preferably higher education within data science, finance, economics, sustainability, or comparable experience.
You have strong communication skills, both written and oral, in English and either Norwegian or Swedish.
It would be an advantage if you have experience within finance/asset management, ESG data management, knowledge of the EUs framework for Sustainable Investment, and/or focused experience within at least one of the ESG fields.
