What will you be doing?
As a Semantic Modelling Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing and implementing ontologies and semantic models that align our business requirements and industry standards. Your responsibilities will include:
- Design and integrate flexible semantic models into information systems such as the Cognite Data Fusion (CDF), collaborating with domain experts to capture and formalize domain knowledge.
- You will engage with external vendors, partners, and clients to create interoperable and scalable semantic models.
- Develop and implement ontologies using W3C standards such RDF, OWL, SPARQL.
- Include industry standard content for Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) and operations such as OBI Industry Data Ontology, ISO 15926, ISO 14224, CFIHOS and data exchange standards such as Industrie 4.0, DEXPI, AML etc.
- Utilize ontology tools such as NEAT (www.thisisneat.io), Protégé for creating and managing semantic models.
- Collaborate with Data Operations teams to integrate semantic technologies into applications and solutions supporting various business processes.
- Enforce data governance frameworks to ensure the accuracy, reliability, security and support decision making based on semantic data.
- Provide technical support, training, and documentation to support the adoption of semantic technologies.
- Work with AI, machine learning, and LLM teams to develop data models for integrating AI into Aker Solutions' business processes.
We think you should have:
- Educational Background: A degree in computer science, information science, or a related field.
- Data Modelling Expertise: A solid understanding of data modelling principles, information modelling, and semantic modelling techniques.
- Semantic Technologies Knowledge: Familiarity with semantic technologies such as RDF, OWL, SPARQL, SHACL and related tools.
- Analytical & Critical Thinking: Proficiency in analysing complex data, identifying patterns, and structuring data effectively.
- Collaboration: Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders and work collaboratively with teams.
- Attention to Detail: Ensuring accuracy, data integrity and reliability in data models.
- Interest in Digital Standardization: A passion for data structuring, classification, and interoperability to create business value.
- Technical Skills: While not required, familiarity with some industry standards such as NORSOK, CFIHOS, Information Model Framework (IMF), ISO 15926, ISO 14224 would be advantageous.
