Senior Mechanical Engineer

What we’re looking for:

We’re on the hunt for a passionate Senior Mechanical Engineer ready to take on the challenge of changing the way we harvest seafood from the seabed. If you’re passionate about innovation and eager to contribute to our story of sustainable seabed harvesting, we’d love to have you on board.

The role is based in Ulsteinvik or at our main office in Aalesund.

What you’ll do:

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Ava Ocean, you’ll play a key role in shaping the future of sustainable seabed harvesting. Your responsibilities will include:

• Mechanical Engineering: Design and optimize subsea and vessel topside configurations.
• Package Responsibility: Serve as the Package Responsible Engineer (PRE), including bid evaluations, supplier coordination, and follow-up with various stakeholders.
• Project Interaction: Work closely with procurement teams, clients, and internal resources, ensuring seamless multidiscipline coordination throughout project lifecycles.
• Testing and Installation: Participate in hands-on testing and installation of equipment.
• Rotating Equipment: Oversee heavy rotating equipment through all project phases, from studies and FEEDs to execution, including technology evaluation, equipment selection, and specification writing.

We believe the ideal candidate will have:

Team spirit: A strong ability to work collaboratively in diverse teams.

Expertise: In-depth knowledge of relevant design standards and practices.

Problem-solving skills: A solution-oriented , can-do mindset with excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Regulatory knowledge: Familiarity with DNV and seafaring laws, regulations and standards.

Language skills: Proficiency in both English and Norwegian is key

Professional qualifications: Mechanical engineering

Right to work: The role is based in Ulsteinvik or at our office in Aalesund (some travel is to be expected) so the candidate must have the right to live and work in Norway under Norwegian law.
