Crowned rectangular shield with a crowned norwegian lion holding a halberd and facing left with vertical lines in the background, inside the shield. Inscription divided by shield. Beaded ring on the rim.

Script: Latin

Lettering: CL= | XV

Translation: Carl XV

Reverse:

Denomination in a solid ring with horizontal lines in the background. Value above the circle. Date divided by mintmark below the circle. Beaded ring on the rim.

Additional Information:

United Kingdoms of Sweden and Norway (1814–1905)

Karl or Carl or Charles was King of Sweden (Charles XV) and King of Norway (Charles IV) from 1859 until his death.

However, Though being Charles IV of Norway ; contemporary Norwegian coins minted contain Charles XV on it.

The coat of arms (Crowned Lion) distinguished the Norwegian coins from their counterpart coins of Sweden. (so also the currency name was the other distinguishing feature).
