Job description
A 14-month full-time position as researcher (position code 1108) is available at the PROMENTA Research Center, Department of Psychology, University of Oslo. The researcher will be working in projects examining antecedents of migrant adaptation to living in the receiving societies and examining inequalities in mental health and mechanism that lead to social marginalization. The projects are funded by the Research Council of Norway
More about the position
The position is funded through grants from the Research Council of Norway for the projects “Antecedents of Cross-Cultural Adaptation: A Meta-Analysis 1988-2025 (https://prosjektbanken.forskningsradet.no/project/FORISS/325260)", “Pathways into Marginalization. A 28-Year Longitudinal Study from Adolescence to Middle Adulthood (https://prosjektbanken.forskningsradet.no/en/project/FORISS/301010)", and “The Social Gradient in Mental Health. A Long-Term Longitudinal Study Integrating Survey Data, Register Data, and Molecular Genetic Data (https://prosjektbanken.forskningsradet.no/en/project/FORISS/300816)".
The researcher will focus on analyzing a large database of primary studies on cross-cultural adaptation with the goal of meta-analytically identifying antecedents, as well as time patterns, of migrant well-being and social adjustment within to living in receiving societies. Moreover, the researcher will use large-scale survey data and register data to examine underlying causes for social inequality in mental health and to uncover how complex marginalization processes unfold from adolescence into midlife. The position is depending on external funding and the length of employment may be extended if funding for an extension is available.
