Mechanical Engineer - Process Technology
Vianode is seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer for our Process Technology department in Kristiansand to join our dynamic team and help us with the mechanical design of equipment and equipment components as well as contributing and/or managing equipment design, layout design and design reviews for plant portfolio including our giga project and other future production units within Vianode. We are looking for a candidate who can start as soon as possible, with applications reviewed continuously until the right individual is selected.
Vianode is an advanced battery materials company providing sustainable anode graphite solutions for the battery and EV value chains in North America and Europe. Vianode’s breakthrough solution enables tailored high-performance synthetic anode graphite and holistic sustainability offering a 90% reduction in CO2 footprint. Vianode operates the world's most sustainable full-scale anode graphite plant for batteries at Herøya, Norway. The next step involves executing multi-billion dollar phased investment program dedicated to establishing large-scale plants across North America and Europe. Vianode’s long-term ambition is to supply advanced battery materials to 3 million EVs per year by 2030. Vianode is owned by the world-leading industrial and financial companies Hydro and Altor.
You will have a central function in the company’s Process Technology team. This position reports to Senior Process Responsible.
Main responsibilities:
• Mechanical design using CAD-tools, including stress/strength calculation
• Participate in design work with process engineers
• Participate and/or manage development projects and industrialization projects
• Production of construction drawings
• Specification and follow up of mechanical projects performed by external consultants
• Document reviews
• Reporting
• Continuously evaluate and benchmark alternative technical solutions for the most cost-effective and safe operations
• Disseminate critical knowledge in the organization, and support continuous improvement based on the development activities
• Contribute to Vianode’s work on developing and securing IP
• Active participation in HSE activities and active ownership of our goal of zero injuries
Qualifications:
- Relevant education at minimum bachelor level within the field of mechanical engineering or similar.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, preferably from the metallurgical or chemical industry.
- Experience with construction using carbon-based materials like graphite is preferred.
- Several years of experience using 3D CAD-software like Solidworks or similar is required
- Organized and structured with strong planning abilities.
- Proactive problem-solver who responds quickly to urgent needs.
- Solid technical understanding of production processes.
- Keen interest in EVs, batteries, and battery materials.
- Skilled in building relationships and working collaboratively in teams.
- Effective communicator, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in English (spoken and written) is required.
