French-speaking Expedition Leader
With our 130 years of experience along the Norwegian coast, we have connected coastal communities and given our guests an authentic experience whether they sail short or far, from port to port or full round trip. At the same time, we have transported important cargo between ports. Our original coastal voyage is known worldwide as "the world's most beautiful coastal voyage", combining beautiful scenery and authentic culture with delicious food experiences. In addition, we have our beautiful ships, MS Trollfjord and MS Otto Sverdrup. MS Trollfjord sails to Svalbard in the summer and North Cape in the winter. MS Otto Sverdrup sails from Hamburg to North Cape.
We are now looking for a new Expedition Leader who speak French and English.

Expedition Team
Expedition Team plays an important role in ensuring an outstanding guest experience. The team is responsible for guest engagement and information, daily planning of on board and ashore activities, the photo program, sales of excursions, as well as planning and execution of self-organized hikes and other activities. The team consists of the following positions:
- Expedition Leader(EL)
- Assistant Expedition Leader (AEL)
- Excursion coordinator
- Nature and Culture Guide
- Expedition Photographer
Every day we immerse ourselves in unique themes that harmonize with the history of our upcoming port visits. From informative lectures in the lecture hall to informal conversations on deck about the passing landscape, the team enriches the guest's experience of Norway.
The Expedition Leader is head of the Expedition Team on board the ship and reports to the Hotel Manager.
Duties and responsibilities
- Responsible for planning, organizing and coordinating the day to day program for the sailings
- Main responsibility for the ship's excursion sales and for other promotional activities
- Act as a host and guide for guests from around the world
- Plan, coordinate and hold relevant lectures and presentations together with the rest of the Expedition Team
- Actively participate in the lectures and activities on board and ashore
- Quality assure, improve and further develop the excursion portfolio and activity program
- Team leader for the members of the Expedition Team
- Follow-up of tourism apprentices
- Responsible for the ship's social media
- Responsible for excursion reporting and invoice management in connection with each voyage
- Cooperate with Hurtigruten's onshore organization
Qualifications/Experience
- This is a unique position on board that does not require one specific education, but it is desirable to have higher education with relevance to the duties of the position.
- Management experience with personnel responsibility
- Work experience in adventure- or nature-based tourism
- Good knowledge of the Norwegian coast, and generally good knowledge of Norwegian society, culture and history
- Good computer skills
- Experience in photography, image processing and video production is desirable
- Good physical shape
- Language requirements:
- French and English fluent
- Norwegian/Scandinavian and German is an advantage
- Hurtigruten set high demands for safety on board, which means that all employees must have; Basic safety course for seafarers, Crowd and Crises course, and approved health certificate from authorized seafarer doctor. There is no requirement to have completed the courses before applying, but you must be willing to take them, and please note that the individual must pay for the courses themselves
