Project Engineer Polymers & Barriers
We are looking for a Project Engineer in polymer & barrier materials to drive the delivery of individual development projects and introductions of new materials. Focus is on developing new and greener materials and verifying their performance on our packages through testing and implementation in the full production value chain.
Main responsibilities:
- Plan and Execute Test Runs: Plan and oversee test runs to qualify new materials, ensuring they meet performance and sustainability criteria.
- Material Management: Follow materials through the value chain, from sourcing to production
- Supplier Collaboration: Maintain regular contact with polymer suppliers, fostering strong relationships and staying informed about industry trends.
- Polymer-Related Claims: Assist in handling polymer-related claims, investigating issues, and proposing solutions.
- Training and Knowledge Sharing: Educate colleagues on the use of polymers and barriers in packaging
- Continuous Improvement: Propose material and production process enhancements to achieve sustainability and performance targets.
- Method Development Support: Collaborate with R&D teams to develop and refine testing methods for sustainable materials.
The position is located at Elopak Corporate Offices in Spikkestad, Norway.
Additionally, you will collaborate closely with global teams and customers, so you can expect to travel approximately 30+ days per year.
Qualifications:
To excel in this role, you should possess the following competencies:
- Higher education in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field
- Understanding of Organic and Polymer chemistry
- Excellent communication skills to liaise with suppliers, internal teams, and stakeholders
- Ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical colleagues
- Fluent in English. Fluency in Norwegian or other Scandinavian languages is an advantage
- Proficiency in analyzing data and making informed decisions
- Great problem-solving skills to address material-related challenges
- Passion for sustainability and a desire to contribute to eco-friendly packaging solutions
